On Campus Interviews:
The
Career
Center
provides employers
with professional recruiting opportunities: online recruiting through
InterviewTrak, professional interview suite with six private interview rooms,
greeting area, internet connections, private entrance and private phone. Reservations may be placed with the
Recruiting Coordinator.
Information Sessions:
Companies may choose to hold an informational session at a
convenient location on campus or other local facility the evening before
interviews or several weeks prior to interviews. These arrangements provide employers with the
opportunity to meet students in a less formal environment. The Recruiting Coordinator will assist with
the location, reservations and on-line publicity for these sessions.
Faculty and Classroom Interaction:
We offer the employer many opportunities to interact with
our students and faculty such as employer hosted faculty luncheons or
participation in classroom discussions.
Employers may host luncheons for faculty and university
administrators in one of two conference rooms located in Lyceum or in a private
room of the Student Union. These
informal yet elegant settings offer employers an opportunity to meet our
faculty and some of the invited administrators. Employers may utilize this setting for presentations about their company
and career opportunities available for our students. The Recruiting Coordinator will assist with
reservations and other arrangements for the luncheons.
Employers may wish to participate in classroom activities or
lectures. Faculty and staff from various
fields of study welcome your professional perspective that reinforces the
academic environment. Please check with
the Recruiting Coordinator for arrangement information.
Career Day
The
Career
Center
provides employers
with an excellent opportunity to meet students from freshmen through graduate
standing during Career Day. This event
is held in a central location on campus once each semester. Currently, over 100 employers participate and
approximately 1,000 students attend the event each semester. Employers are invited to sponsor Career Day
activities and receive recognition in advertising used to promote Career Day. This includes radio ads, banners, newspaper
articles and ads,
Career
Center
web page, at
Career Day, and recognition in the Career Center Interview Suite Lobby.
Career
Opportunity
Listing
An employer may fax, mail, or email current career
opportunities that are available in their company. The recruiting staff posts openings in the
Career
Center
where the student can view the job. These postings are also distributed to professors in related departments
for announcement in their classes and listing on their student list-serve. We also offer the opportunity to post the
position to MonsterTrak and Ole Miss Alumni. To post positions with MonsterTrak, simply go to www.monstertrak.com and click on
employers. From there, click “Post a
Job.” All of our students and many of
our alumni have access to view jobs posted on MonsterTrak.
Career Workshops
Employers are often asked to conduct workshops that are open
to the entire student body. Suggested
workshop topics include: “First Day on the Job,” “The Successful Candidate,”
“Resumes that Work,” or “Buzz Words for Our Business.” These workshops provide students an insight
into the professional world and provide employers with an opportunity to
introduce their company and company culture to a diverse student
population. If you would like to
participate in this, please contact the Recruiting Coordinator.
Campus Advertising
Employers are encouraged to advertise their campus
activities and employment opportunities in the student newspaper, The Daily Mississippian. This publication is distributed Monday-Friday
throughout the campus during the academic year. Another form of advertising is through company flyers and posters that
can be posted in student populated areas such as the Student Union, the
Turner
Center
,
and various academic buildings. The
Recruiting Coordinator will arrange to distribute your flyers and posters
throughout the campus.
CAREER LINKS Alumni Network
CAREER LINKS is a cooperative effort between the
Career
Center
and the office of Alumni Affairs. The
program is designed to provide firsthand career information to students by
giving them opportunities to communicate with individuals who work in their
areas of interest or preferred geographic locations. We encourage Ole Miss alumni, parents,
friends, and employers to sign up as a mentor. You may limit the number of contacts you receive from students and the
method of contact such as email, phone, or postal service. If you are interested in this additional
service, please contact Josh Whelan, Alumni Career Services Graduate Assistant,
or visit www.career.olemiss.edu/CAN/default.asp and complete the short registration profile. This is not a job referral service.
