The University of Mississippi Event Summaries:

The 1st Annual Internship and Summer Job Recruitment Fair is an excellent opportunity for employers and students to discuss a variety of experiential learning opportunities including: internships, externships, co-ops, summer jobs, and volunteer opportunities.  This specialized fair will serve as an information exchange to give The University’s diverse and talented student population information on your programs, the application process, and relevant deadlines for the upcoming recruiting year.  Dress casual and join us Thursday, April 10, 2008 from 10am to 2pm in the Tad Smith Coliseum.  All industries are welcome to attend.   For a list of The University’s academic programs, visit http://olemiss.edu/academics/index.html.

Fall and Spring All Majors Career Fairs take place in the Turner Center Gym usually early in both semesters.  During the fair, employers and admission officers have the opportunity to meet students or alumni to discuss career opportunities, internships, summer jobs, graduate or professional programs, and other opportunities in their field.  The event is scheduled to last from 9am-2pm.  Employers may arrive earlier to register and set-up.  Lunch for employers is provided and served between 11am-1pm on the days of the events.

Engineering Career Day provides an excellent opportunity to discuss career information, summer jobs, internships, co-ops and full-time employment with engineering students and faculty.  This specialized fair is held in the School of Engineering in the fall semester, usually in October.  Students from each engineering discipline meet with employers at info tables which are lined in the hallways of Carrier and Anderson Halls.  Some private interviewing spaces are provided for employers to use to interview students after the event is over.   Engineering Career Day begins at 8:30am and ends at 11:30 am.

Engineering Symposium is held in conjunction with the spring All Majors Career Fair.  Employers are invited to participate in both events, with the symposium allowing employers to present a 15 minutes info presentation to engineering students.  The symposium is conducted in the School of Engineering’s auditorium, which is located across the street from the Turner Center Gym where the All Majors Career Fair is hosted.    Employers are encouraged to participate in both events, but it is not required.  The symposium begins at 8:15 and ends at noon.

Educator Recruitment Day gives school representative the opportunity to meet with students majoring in elementary, secondary, counseling and special education.  The event is held in the Tad Smith Coliseum in April of each year.  The event begins at 8:30 am in traditional career fair format.  Starting at 10:30am, each participating school system conducts interviews with potential candidates.  Interviews are scheduled for 20 minute intervals; the last interview is conducted at 3pm.

Insurance Career Days are conducted over a two day period and hosted by the School of Insurance and Risk Management each spring semester.  Insurance companies participate in one and a half days of interviewing, and one afternoon for a traditional fair.  On the first day, companies schedule interviews in the Career Center which begin at 8:30 am and end at noon.  The insurance fair is usually held in the Johnson’s Commons or Ford Center, and begins around 2  pm and ends at 5 pm.  Day two is reserved strictly for companies to conduct interviews.  Interviews on day two begin at 8:30 am and end at 4:30 pm.  All interviews are conducted in the Career Center.  For more information about this event, please contact Camille Mitchell at cmitchell@bus.olemiss.edu .
