Nicholas Carr

Nick assists with the career development activities of the Career Center. He coaches individuals concerning career and educational objectives and advises students regarding career planning and job searching. Nick plans, develops, and facilitates events and initiatives to promote opportunities for engagement among the university community. Lastly, he assists students with career development issues by providing counseling, administering assessments, and teaching Career and Life Planning courses.

Shyra Lynch, MBA

Shyra assists with the career development activities of the Career Center. She coaches individuals concerning career and educational objectives and advises students regarding career planning and job searching while also supervising the practicum students. She plans, develops, and facilitates events and initiatives to promote opportunities for engagement among the university community. She also assists students with career development issues by providing counseling, administering assessments, and teaching Career and Life Planning courses.

David Hamilton

David is responsible for employer activities and various services for students and employers, including on-campus interviews, information sessions, and job postings for full-time positions and internships. He supervises the InterNet program, which assists students with the Internship search process. David also serves as the Career Center liaison with faculty and administrators to publicize career opportunities for students via e-mail or other marketing avenues. He corresponds with potential employers and collects employer information. David is responsible for scheduling and planning the daily operations of the on-campus interview program.

Christy Wright, M.A.

Christy Wright is a Tupelo, MS native who works in The University of Mississippi Career Center as the Assistant Director of Employer Services and is in her 8th year. As a 1st Generation and Transfer student, she has received a Bachelor’s of Business Administration with an emphasis in Human Resources, a Bachelor of Science in Integrated Marketing Communications, and a Master’s of Arts in Higher Education from Ole Miss. In her current role as Assistant Director for the Career Center, Christy develops and implements career fairs, manages social media platforms, develops marketing strategies & brand awareness, manages the Job Location & Development federal program along with 2 graduate assistants, and is an adjunct professor for the School of Business. Christy assists students in career development, provides career counseling, develops professional growth, and specializes in career coaching & event management. She enjoys spending time with friends & family, her son Braden, and her three dogs, Coulson, Winston, and Ziggy.

 

Jonathan Harrington, Ph.D.

Jonathan directs all the recruiting activities in the Career Center. This includes supervising the on-campus interview program, employer services, and career fairs. Jonathan also provides assistance to students in their self-directed job searches and instructs a Career and Life Planning course. Jonathan supervises the employer services team, which includes the Asst. Director of Employer Services and Recruiting Coordinator.

Bailey Bracken, M.A., CCSP

Bailey serves as the Assistant Director of Career Development and directs the career development activities of the Career Center. Her responsibilities include coordinating and promoting outreach programs and supervising the Career Advisors. Bailey also assists students with career development issues by providing counseling, administering assessments, and teaching Career and Life Planning courses.

Susan Cockrell

Susan provides operations support in the administration of the department. Susan is responsible for scheduling student appointments, processing assessment payments, coordinating activities of the office, maintaining financial records, preparing reports, and maintaining inventory. Susan also coordinates the fiscal affairs of the department and monitors budget expenditures.

Toni Avant

Under the director’s guidance, the Career Center is prepared to offer the best assistance possible. Toni is responsible for managing the Career Center’s staff, budget, and overall recruiting and career service activities and operations. She also serves as the Career Center’s liaison with on- and off-campus constituents, assists students through individual counseling appointments, and instructs a Career and Life Planning course.
